Our houses‘ history
1891 our guesthouse was planned, the opening followed in 1892 as store for local products with a small grocery and bar. From 1901 on the guesthouse was led by different owners as „Gasthaus zur Stadt Schärding“ until it was overtaken by family Pillichshammer in 1958.
In 1971 the owners’ daughter Gertrud overtook the guesthouse with her husband Josef Irger, which resulted in the name „Knödelwirt“ after several reconstructions.
Since 1993 the family’s son Markus Irger runs the guesthouse in third generation and expanded it 1995 by building the winter garden. In January 2003 the hotel “Hotel am Grünbachplatz” was additionally opened on the opposite side of the “Grünbachplatz” square.
